What is the Person-Centred Approach?

The person-centred approach is based on the theory and philosophy of Dr Carl Rogers. It is an approach that believes in the service user's ability to make the right choices for themself. This means putting service users at the centre of decisions making and working alongside our experience staff to get the best positive outcome. There are many different aspects of person-centred care, which include:

respecting service users values and putting them at the centre of care.
taking into account service users preferences and expressed needs.
working together to make sure there is good communication, information and education.
making sure service users are physically comfortable and safe.
provide ongoing emotional support though regular key working sessions.
involving service user, their family and friends with their full agreement and support.

What is Recovery focused model of care?

Our recovery focused model aims to help service users to look beyond mere survival and existence. It encourages them to move forward, set new goals and do things and develop relationships that give their lives meaning.
It emphasises that, while the service user may not have full control over their symptoms, they can have full control over their lives.
Recovery focused model is not about 'getting rid' of problems, but it is about helping and supporting the service user seeing beyond his or her mental health problems, recognising and fostering their abilities, interests and dreams.
Recovery focused model is about helping and supporting service users achieve their own goals and aspirations.
